Managing your sim cattery properly can be a little overwhelming at first, so be sure to read over the FAQ and the Beginner’s Forum for advice on how to get started.

Premium accounts allow for a much larger margin of error than basic accounts. You may be more inclined to jump into the game with both feet, since a litter of poor quality kittens simply means you have to try again. Still, there’s no reason to be rushing into things. Take some time to learn the ropes before you start making lots of offers on cats and breeding your starter cats.

You will need to put some thought into the direction you want to take. Would you like to help out a less popular breed? Would you like to try a very popular breed to see if you can handle some of the toughest show competition in the game? Or would you prefer a more middle of the road breed? Do you even want to select a specific breed, or would you rather work with a few cats from different breeds? These are the things you need to think about before starting to offer on cats.

When looking for cats to add to your kennel, think about how you would like to breed. Would you like to breed up from your source cats and start your own line? Would you like to use the cats that are winning in the show ring? Or would you prefer a combination of both? Be sure and look at a cat’s age and recent show results, and then compare his stats to those of catss that are currently doing well in shows before you make an offer. Just because a cat is a champion does NOT mean that he or she is of breeding quality!

If you are having trouble finding cats for sale that are of good quality, try e-mailing the top catteries in your chosen breed. Many times these people are happy to sell you cats to help you get started because they get prestige boosts for any kittens they bred that finish their championships
